Acrylic painting Beskinek-kwam by Clayton King

Acrylic on Terraskin Mounted on Birch Panel
16" x 20" inches

One of many thunder beings, Beskinek-Kwam is the one that gives a sharp crack and sets fire to the trees and land when it strikes lightening from its eyes.

The role of this thunder was to provide renewal to the land after a fire was set. It is through this teaching that Anishinaabe have created controlled burns in order to help those plants in dire need. Re-growth through this process is just another part to the many cycles of life.
